Day Three

Today in church we sang "Just A Closer Walk with Thee." As we came to the verse that says, " who but Thee my burdens shares" I realized what should have been my first "Thanks" and that is my Lord and Savior. How awesome it is to know that no matter the burden we have someone to go thru it with us. Talk about a comfort! 

Day Two of Thanks

Today I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds us. Driving around trying to get Mattie Sims to take a nap (yes she is 2 and we still have to do that on occasion) and I was so frustrated and just generally in a bad mood. As I turned down one back road after another, I realized what I was missing because of my grumpiness. I was missing just the simple beauty of this time of year. The time of year where trick or treating, allergies, and early nights seems to take precedence over how beautiful it truly is.  

Day One of 30 Days of Thanks

Today (and everyday) I am thankful for a beautiful, happy, and healthy child. Keeping up with posts of a friend who cannot say that about her child is heartbreaking. It makes me realize how blessed Matt and I are. So next time you hear me make a comment that Mattie Sims is once again going full blast and running us ragged, remind me of those who would give anything to be tired because of chasing a healthy child.

Mattie Sims for the Mommy's Soul

This week while giving MSK her nightly bath, I have tried to sing various gospel songs. Much to my  surprise she sang them all, even the ones I thought would be new to her. I could help to think of my childhood at Tremont First Baptist and all the songs from childhood choir with Mrs. Susan Harp and Mr. Bobby Canup came flooding back. How it warmed this Mommy's heart when Mattie Sims stood up out of that water to join me in " The Lord's Army." (Complete with motions). So this morning while trying getting ready for church we started singing "This Little Light of Mine," MSK insisted everyone hold up their light....even Dixie Belle (the dog). We tried to explain that she didn't know the song, but to MSK that just meant she needed to learn!!! This pic gives just a glimpse of a very intense music lesson. But what good it does for this Mommy's soul to hear her baby sing just sweet songs and sharing her Light.

Zoo Day(s)

Wow, have got us an animal lover! From watching the ants move a crumb to every dog, car, lizard, etc that may scuttle by Mattie Sims loves them! What a better way to expand her love then to take her to the Memphis Zoo and Tupelo Buffalo Park. She loved them both. And how much fun did we all have watching her. We might just have us a vet on our hands. Of course, her daddy has already told her she will have to go to Auburn, he isn't paying MSU! Ha
